Sirmione is one of the jewels of Lake Garda, surrounded by the majestic Alps. The town stretches along a thin peninsula that protrudes into the lake for about 4 km. Ancient Romans discovered the healing properties of Lake Garda`s hot springs and therefore built beautiful villas with thermal pools. The main historical landmark of Sirmione is the Grottoes of Cattullus. In the bottom of the lake, in front of Cattullo`s Grottos, sulphurous water, known as the Boiola spring gush, out at the temperature of 70 °C .
Sirmione is a lovely destination for those seeking relax, thermal treatments and wellbeeing. The ideal climate and wonderful nature makes it a perfect place to recharge both the body and mind. Here it is possible to go from prehistoric times through antiquity and the Middle Ages to our own contemporary fashion shops, culinary restaurants, delightful ice cream bars, elegant medical clinics, numerous spa and hotels. From the walls of Sirmione’s fortress, you can easily move between the small charming towns along the coast. Wonderful for families with children, charming clean beaches along the entire lake and, of course, Gardaland is worth a visit. Sirmione is a good starting point for wine lovers as well. The area offers a great selection of wine tours, among them a visit to the Valpolicella Valley, where the famous Amarone wine comes from. Here you get an insight into some of the true Italian culture, with culinary experiences both in the glass and on the plate.
