The town of Monsummano Terme is located in the heart of a rich Tuscan countryside, in the province of Pistoia, between Lucca and Firenze just a few kilometers away from Montecatini Terme. It is dominated by the hill of Monsummano Alto. From here it is possible to visit the church of San Nicolao and the castle with the powerfull line of walls, overlooking the lower Monsummano. The city was built from around 1602 of a sanctuary commissioned by Ferdinand I, Grand Duke of Tuscany.

Charming, open and wide landscape with large greenery, an excellent base for exploring the surroundings with a variety of nice hiking trails. In the south part of Monsummano Terme, which is completely flat, there is the natural reserve Padule di Fucecchio with its varied flora and fauna where you can observe a great number of birds and other animals. Close to the city center, golf lovers can find a magnificent 18 hole golf course, Montecatini Golf & Country, surrounded by olive trees with a stunning view. Within proximal half a hour by car you can reach the Mediterranean coast, the beaches and the coastline of  Versilia and at the same time catch the leaning tower of Pisa. La Spezia you can easy and comfortable reach Cinque Terre by train that stops in all of the small villages. If you have time and opportunity, it is well worth having a daytrip to visit San Gimignano and Siena.
